Intorcio’s Lakeside is our getaway on Laconia’s Opechee Bay in New Hampshire. An easy 90 minute drive from Casa Intorcio, we get to enjoy many weekends and holidays here. Shawn & John hope to make this there full time residence when they can downshift the daily work routine.
Getting Here: Please contact us for directions. While we welcome guests, we don’t want to publicly advertise our exact location.
Dress Code: Things are very casual here. Bathing suits and a T-shirt or cover-up are standard attire for the summer; Sweatpants are de rigueur in the winter. The entire area is rather vacation-oriented and casual – so even going out there’s no need for anything beyond “casual”. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter – prepare accordingly!
Bring: Anything that makes you feel comfortable. We have plenty of sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, beach towels, hand towels, face towels, dish towels… you get the idea. We have laundry facilities if you need to wash something while you’re here. Our beach is a bit rocky – some people like water shoes or sandals in the water. Bring a bathing suit no matter what time of year – our hut tub is always open.
Activities: We have an eight passenger motorboat, a three passenger Waverider, two one passenger kayaks, limited fishing gear (or bring your own), a dock and a beach, a hot tub, a sauna, multiple fireplaces, woods to walk in, pastures to stroll in, and a bunch of lawn and board games. Please feel free to bring along any recreational equipment you might enjoy! For the smaller ones, we have indoor and outdoor play areas, swings and a slide, and a fair amount of patience.
Around Us: Laconia offers multiple grocery stores, a Walmart, a hospital with a Level III trauma center, clinics, banks, many restaurants, hardware stores, etc. Tanger Outlets (~15 minutes) in Tilton offers quality shopping opportunities. The Lake Opechee Inn and Spa (~2 minutes) offers massages, manicures, etc. – booking in advance is suggested. Weirs Beach (~15 minutes) offers people watching, a boardwalk with arcades and bumper cars, boat tours on Winnipesaukee, a drive-in theater, etc. The Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion (~10 minutes) is a wonderful venue with a nice lineup of summer concerts or the Winnipesaukee Playhouse (~12 minutes) offers professional theater. Gunstock Resort (~15 minutes) has skiing and various summer activities including a soon to open mountain coaster.
Food: We love to cook, have basic skills and equipment, and enjoy feeding our guests. We plan fun seasonal meals, take into account food allergies or preferences (please let us know!), and offer beer, wine, and a limited selection of liquors. Our kitchen and bar are stocked with the basics, but if you have special needs or particular favorites, feel free to bring along your own!
Contact: There’s no landline but we have coverage with many cell phone carriers (Sprint is marginal) and you can call us at 978-nine-seven-three-1076 (Shawn) or 978-three-eight-seven-7164 (John). We offer free high speed wireless internet for our guests.
